How PRP Works for Knee Pain

  • Reducing inflammation

  • Promoting healing of cartilage, tendons, or ligaments

  • Stimulating tissue regeneration

  • Slowing the progression of osteoarthritis

  • Improving joint lubrication and function

The PRP Procedure for Knee Pain

  1. Blood Draw
A small amount of blood is taken from your arm.

  2. Centrifugation
The blood is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma.

  3. PRP Injection
The PRP is injected directly into the knee joint (intra-articular) or surrounding tissue, depending on the problem (arthritis, meniscus tear, etc.).

  4. Ultrasound guidance may be used for precision.

  5. Post-Treatment

  6. Minimal downtime (you might feel soreness for a day or two)

  7. Avoid heavy activity for a few days

  • Whole process takes about 30–45 minutes and is done in an outpatient setting.

Efficacy of PRP for Knee Pain

  • Osteoarthritis (especially mild to moderate stages)

  • Meniscus injuries

  • Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)

  • Ligament sprains

  • Post-surgical healing
